Kempe Gowda built this temple. The center of reverence is a magnificent Nandi, which is 15 feet tall and over 20 feet long. A festival is celebrated here each year in November or December every year. When the groundnuts have been harvested, a groundnut fair is held near the temple. The farmers offer the first groundnuts to the sacred bull

  Tipu’s Summer Palace

Known as the Tiger of Mysore, Tipu Sultan is cherished as a valiant son of the soil in Karnataka. Thus, it is strange that there are so few visitors to Tipu's fort and summer palace in Bangalore which are almost the only monuments in the city associated with the former Mysore ruler and his father, Hyder Ali.The Bangalore fort was first built out of mud in 1537 by Kempegowda, a chieftain of the Vijayanagar empire credited with the founding of Bangalore city. The fort, which then had eight gates, first passed through the hands of the Bijapur sultans and then the Mughals and, finally, the Wodeyars of Mysore. When

Haider Ali ruled Mysore after wresting power from the Wodeyars, he rebuilt the fort with stone and made it his stronghold. After the death of his father, Tipu Sultan divided his time between his fort at Srirangapatna, near Mysore, Nandi Hills and Bangalore. The Bangalore fort is built in an unusual oval shape. Only one of its doorways is in use today. This is the Delhi Gate which has exquisite Persian friezes on the inner and outer walls.
